Step by Step in Overclocking ABIT BX6
by Overclocker (2/8/98)
As requested by one of the readers of the web site, I have put
together the steps involved to overclock your Celeron 266 on ABIT BX6 to 400 Mhz or 448
(450) Mhz.

One of the challenges among all overclockers is that we want to
boost the performance of the CPU to the limit. To a certain extent, overclocking works
without over heating the CPU. So, what I have done here is to list down steps involved to
boost Celeron 266 to the maximum speed.

 | My experience is that if you wish to achieve 400Mhz, you set
external clock to 100Mhz and you can use CPU default voltage of 2.0v |
 | If you wish to achieve 448Mhz (4 x 112Mhz), set your voltage to
2.1 or 2.2v, it should be able to run Windows 95/98 or NT steadily. |
 | Using good SDRAM is also important to successfully overclock
beyond the stipulated 266 Mhz. You should use PC-100 Complaint SDRAM. |
 | I managed to overclocked mine at 448Mhz (displayed as 450Mhz)
using PC-66 SDRAM from Hyundai (quite a surprise for myself). |
 | Try it yourself. My motherboard is running steadily at 450Mhz with
a motherboard temperature of 39 Deg Celsius avg in whole year Summer Singapore. |
