ABIT BH6 Warning !
by Overclocker (17/9/98)

Update : I just flashed my BH6 board with the 'latest' BH6_FL.BIN dtd 9/10/98 downloaded from ABIT FTP Site. I flashed it to check whether it's the same FL BIOS and to confirm whether it will kill the mainboard as reported by Singapore Hardware Zone. Everything works fine except that I find that it's strange that the date of the BIOS is still dated as 7/10/98 which is the date for the earlier version of the BH6 BIOS. I did not notice any changes to the settings at all after clearing the CCMOS jumper and rebooted the machine.
Basically, do not use the BH6FL.EXE downloaded from ABIT website. Instead, you should download the BIOS from ABIT FTP site. You can also download it here. The file contains the BH6_FL.BIN and AWDFLASH ver. 6.22. You do not need to flash your BH6 because it already came with the FL BIOS which can support Celeron 300a and 333. The FL BIOS downloaded from the web site is the same FL BIOS that came with BH6 except that it's dated differently on the website. (Disclaimer : I am not responsible for any damages to your motherboard if you flash it wrongly).

Warning : There are reports of killing the ABIT BH6 motherboard after flashing the new BIOS. Please do not flash the FL BIOS if you have downloaded it from the web site. I am going to flash it with the BIOS downloaded from ABIT's FTP site instead. From my observation, i think the file downloaded from web site is corrupted with CRC errors ! I will keep you guys posted here.
