Two new processors from Intel will be released by year 2000. They are codenamed Cascades and Coppermine. Both will be used in notebooks and desktop PCs. The processor will also have integrated 3D instructionsets to improve high-end, graphics intensive programs. Speed limites of Cascades and Coppermine
are not mentioned. Intel is also secretly producing a 0.18 micron version
of Celeron which willl also be available by 2000. So overclocker, you are
in luck, 1 GHz is possible from a 600 Mhz chip ?
AMD with a cross-licensing deal with Motorola yesterday announced that they will be able to produce processor that reaches 1GHz in the first half of 2000 with copper technology. Will that be a threat to Intel Cascades and Intel Coppermine ?
