AOPEN AX6B Plus (Part I)
AX6B Plus Mainboard First Impressions AX6B Plus is one of the newer boards that AOPEN released recently. I am very happy that Overclockers' Workbench is one of the first site to do a review on this board. The board comes in a orange coloured box. Inside contains the mainboard, 2 user guides (Adaptec 7800 Family Manager Set and AX6B User Guide). Packaged in are a SCSI cable, 1 disk drive connector and 2 IDE cables. You will also find a metal plate for mounting onto the back of the mainboard to prevent dust from going into your COM1, COM2, LPT1 etc (which is usually available when you buy your casing). There is also a CDROM which contains Norton Anti-Virus and other utilities. (You normally won't get Norton Anti-Virus packaged with other mainboards) I took a quick glance at the manual. Wow, this is well written. I have never seen a manual that is so well documented. They even recommened using certain tested SDRAMs to get best performance. In the list are Micron, TI, Hyundai, Samsung, NEC and Siemens (with the respective model numbers). The board comes with 4 PCI, 3 ISA, 1 AGP, 4 SDRAM Slots, On Board SCSI Adaptec AHA-7880P Ultra Wide SCSI Controller, SCSI Port 68-pin Wide SCSI & 50-pin FAST SCSI Connector. On the mainboard you will also see the Modem Wakeup and LAN Wakeup pin connectors. The design is very much similar to the AX6BC which is one of the best boards around in the market today. It supports : Pentium II 233~333Mhz(Extra
Bus Clock: 66Mhz), Key Features
