ABIT BH6 Report Part 2 One of the most important selling points about BX6 (BH6's predecessor) is because of it's wide support of SDRAMs and SoftMenu II. SoftMenu II in BX6 already allows you to select the front side bus from 66Mhz to 133Mhz without setting jumpers. Let's take a look at some of the new feature of BH6. New Features (Comparison with BX6)
Opinions (more to be added) From my knowledge of new motherboards, there are currently only a few motherboards that supports more than 4 PCI Slots. Two of the manufacturers are EPOX and AOPEN. The ABIT BH6 is the one of the first 5 PCI slots motherboard, thus in terms of expandability, there is no problems. So you can have a PCI sound card, 2 graphic cards, 2 network cards. You can even run a Windows NT router on it with no problems ! The BX6 was a seller because a lot of users like myself were surprise that our old PC-66 SDRAM works flawlessly even at 112Mhz (I am overclocking my current system at 112 x 4 = 450Mhz on Celeron SL2QG). The addition of a 124Mhz will certainly open more routes to attain higher performance in Intel PII and Celeron processors that are multiplier locked. With the combination of PC100 SDRAM which supports max of 124Mhz, there is a high possibility that these RAMs will work flawlessly irregardless of which processor you're overclocking. A Celeron 266 (SL2QG) would likely to run steadily at 124 x 4 Mhz ~= 500Mhz !! Just imagine paying a mere S$160 (US$94) to achieve a 500Mhz performance. It's truly a fantasy of every overclocker in this world !! * As for the Real Power Overclocking, I have not tested it yet. I will post the results once I have tested it. I will also do a performance comparison between BX6 and BH6 very soon. Check it out in Part III of the BH6 reports. Back Forward
